maria pestana art gallery online intends to provide a commercial launch of the art works of selected international artists. Our intention is to promote young artists and less well known artists who have been chosen for their technical skills, personality or creative imagination. Also among our compromises is to present the artist to international competitions and prizes.

We offer to collectors personal consultancy services to assist them in developing their collections according to their special interests or in exploring new branches of contemporary art to begin collecting. In addition we firmly believe in promoting the excitement, pleasure and fascination of collecting art to a new generation of collectors and thus we offer advice and guidance all aspects of how to start, build and develop an art collection.

Gonzalo Ojeda (Spain)

gonzalo ojedaGonzalo Ojeda (Spain) personifies the turn to the investigation on landscape. The search for lines, light, and colours in far away geographies is present through all his work. His landscapes emerge from the use of vibrant colours and the horizontal line. Ojeda uses colours as a means of expression rather than purely description. His aim is to get the “soul” of a particular landscape he has admired before.

Gonzalo Ojeda (1954) has studied Geography in Spain. He has widely exhibited through different cities in Spain.

"Mis espacios son ordenados” states the artist. A great admirer of Gauguin and Matisse tradition Ojeda tries to represent his own emotional experience through an economic palette. In front of a landscape he feels first the horizontal line. The horizontal line will define the spaces and shapes he wants to show. From the complexity of the perspective and mixed of colours of a real landscape he develops the essence of what is fundamental. Horizontal lines, pure colours, exact forms and shapes. Nothing is superficial in his landscape. A joy prevails in front of his landscapes. All of his paintings are named after countries or cities he has visited before. In turning landscape into simplified forms Ojeda wants to achieve what is essential, and what will be remembered. (Maria Pestana, Conversation with Gonzalo Ojeda)
