maria pestana art gallery online intends to provide a commercial launch of the art works of selected international artists. Our intention is to promote young artists and less well known artists who have been chosen for their technical skills, personality or creative imagination. Also among our compromises is to present the artist to international competitions and prizes.

We offer to collectors personal consultancy services to assist them in developing their collections according to their special interests or in exploring new branches of contemporary art to begin collecting. In addition we firmly believe in promoting the excitement, pleasure and fascination of collecting art to a new generation of collectors and thus we offer advice and guidance all aspects of how to start, build and develop an art collection.

Mohamed El Masry (Egypt)

mary untitled 1Colour plays a central role in Mohamed El Masry's paintings. The vivid colours define the shapes which compose together personages and motifs in his paintings. Masry tries to liberate himself from rules. As Vlaminck wrote the artist wished “to liberate nature, to free it from authority”. Colour is undoubtedly the means of expressing the feelings of the artist. In this sense Masry's paintings are linked to those masters obsessed by colour. But colour as a means of expression rather than description. In making colour the protagonist of the painting Masry eludes superfluous elements. The painting is reduced to colour. Colour finds the shapes. Colour and shape will be mastered by the feelings of the artist.

Mohamed El Masry (Egypt) has widely exhibited through different continents.

"I adopted in my works a style of reforming the reality and expressing it in different ways. I have produced many coloured works away from the classic style. In a lot of my works I tried to rebuild the structure of the characters. I have taken many sketches from many people and places I have been. But I have tried to express my opinion about the outer world trying to create my own world so I could live in it according to my own rules. Mainly I am concern about the shape, the colour and the composition. But overall, I try to create objects and personages living in their own environment.” (Mohamed El Masry, 2010)
