maria pestana art gallery online intends to provide a commercial launch of the art works of selected international artists. Our intention is to promote young artists and less well known artists who have been chosen for their technical skills, personality or creative imagination. Also among our compromises is to present the artist to international competitions and prizes.
We offer to collectors personal consultancy services to assist them in developing their collections according to their special interests or in exploring new branches of contemporary art to begin collecting. In addition we firmly believe in promoting the excitement, pleasure and fascination of collecting art to a new generation of collectors and thus we offer advice and guidance all aspects of how to start, build and develop an art collection.

Wing Wong (China)
Wing Wong transports us to a space in which light transforms nature. By The Sea shows how the gaze of the artist may reduce nature to a game in which lines, light and reflection may combine to the infinite. It seems there was not a beginning not an end. The sea was there to be captured by the sensibility of the artist, just at a particular moment. One can see how long the artist awaited to capture the exquisite moment in which light ripped the waters.
Wing Wong
(1964) has studied Arts in China and USA. He works as a photographer.
"
To me, photography is about capturing the relations between light, line, form and shape. It does not matter what the subject matter is. Upon the same image, different people will have their own feeling, mood and perspective. I never lead the viewers to any direction, it's the viewer's free will. In my works, I suggest, but not conclude.
Hong Kong is a city by the sea, it changed from a fishery village into a logistic, commercial city under the ruling of Britain. Then China took it back again in 1997 and now is a financial center. Things changed a lot. But to me, the mood of 'By the sea' has not changed a bit. I have been working on this series since 2006 and it's still expanding...” (2011, Wing Wong)
