maria pestana art gallery online intends to provide a commercial launch of the art works of selected international artists. Our intention is to promote young artists and less well known artists who have been chosen for their technical skills, personality or creative imagination. Also among our compromises is to present the artist to international competitions and prizes.

We offer to collectors personal consultancy services to assist them in developing their collections according to their special interests or in exploring new branches of contemporary art to begin collecting. In addition we firmly believe in promoting the excitement, pleasure and fascination of collecting art to a new generation of collectors and thus we offer advice and guidance all aspects of how to start, build and develop an art collection.

Livia Zavagli uses a different language in her art works. She uses old post cards with the view to reinterpret them. All the characters are in the attitude of posing for the viewer. The artist complete the scenario with minute care. She starts with painting, and gradually incorporates precious stones, natural pearls, rhinestones, shells, to fill the plane surfaces of colour. Zavagli's art works constitute small jewels. The artist doesn't choose large size, on the contrary she prefers small sizes which become small jewel boxes. Her works are plentiful in details, as many as the viewer has to get close to the painting.

Livia Zavagli (1941) is a full time artist. She lives in Madrid and traves widely around the world.

"Si bien el arte ha estado siempre presente, inicialmente opté por la pintura en porcelana y cristal. La idea de realizar este tipo de cuadros fue producto de la inspiración que surgió en Napolés, donde contemplé unos cuadros realizados con flores secas y abalorios. Si bien al principio opté por imágenes religiosas, poco a poco me fui introduciendo en los carteles de 1920. Al principio me limité a incorporar encajes y abalorios, pero con el tiempo he ido introduciendo pan de oro, estucos, conchas, perlas, malaquitas y todo tipo de piedras preciosas y semipreciosas que adquiero en viajes. Me gustan especialmente las piedras que recogen la luz y despiden pequeños brillos porque transforman el cuadro.” (2011, Livia Zavagli)
