maria pestana art gallery online intends to provide a commercial launch of the art works of selected international artists. Our intention is to promote young artists and less well known artists who have been chosen for their technical skills, personality or creative imagination. Also among our compromises is to present the artist to international competitions and prizes.
We offer to collectors personal consultancy services to assist them in developing their collections according to their special interests or in exploring new branches of contemporary art to begin collecting. In addition we firmly believe in promoting the excitement, pleasure and fascination of collecting art to a new generation of collectors and thus we offer advice and guidance all aspects of how to start, build and develop an art collection.

Steve Tothill
(United Kingdom)
Steve
Tothill (United Kingdom) shows his interest for the changing world
where we live. Pop Art symbols help the artist to reflect on the sudden
moments in which we are immersed through the day. His technique mixes
collage, acrylics, pictures, cinema and advertising images. The aim
is to captures the anonymous individual immersed on our always changing
society.
Steve
Tothill (1961) has studied Arts, and Film Studies at United Kingdom.
He has exhibited at Europe, Australia, and Asia.
"Television,
trash media and film, rubbish, building sites and rusted metals.
I love the throw away society, the shoppers, fast food and traffic
jams. My life is expressed in my work. From spraying paint to carving
stone from computer to video I use it all to explain what I see.
It’s easiest explained in me trying to capture an unexpected
moment, something happens that makes you stop and enjoy the moment,
the feeling of it being right. That’s when I know when a piece
is finished. To do this I need to use mediums that allow me to create
those moments, running paint, breaking stone, distorted photographs,
torn paper, found objects. Used isolated or combined until I get
that moment. And like a moment in any situation the moment passes
instantly and I move on leaving something that I want to look back
on." (2009, Steve Tothill)
